AXIS Black High Performance Speed Front Wing

High-performance foiling accessible to everyone

This breakthrough high aspect foil was the result of a long and intensive design and prototyping process that included the development of the new black fuselage to incorporate the reduced thickness and chord of the AXIS HPS foil section.

The camber of the HPS, a key variable in the lift versus drag trade-off, is also the lowest in the AXIS front wing range.

But while this foil is unashamedly designed for speed and glide, the real achievement is how easy it is to use for almost all levels of rider. Where some brands high aspect foils are often a more unstable ride, more geared towards expert riders, AXIS have seen people jump on HPS and rip after just a few sessions mastering the basics on higher lift foils.

This is thanks to the perfectly balanced plan-shape and carefully considered down-turn and twist, that keeps this foil turning freely and handling predictably in all conditions.

AXIS HPS has quickly become one of the most popular foils for wing foiling for all levels of riders once they have the basics down. A true industry benchmark, it’s also making its mark in Downwind, Prone and SUP foiling for faster or more powerful waves. The high-speed suitability also makes it a natural choice for windsurf and kite foiling.

HPS foils are ideally matched with the Progressive or Speed rear wing ranges.

AXIS HPS WINGS ARE ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH THE BLACK SERIES FUSELAGES

Sizes

650 Recommended for:

  • WING Foiling for intermediate and advanced levels. High wind conditions. Speed wing. Also for lightweight riders looking for the performance setup. The HPS 650 is designed for speed and high winds. It turns on a dime, is very stable when dropping on proper waves with the wing, and feels intuitive and easy while performing at the highest levels of speed.
  • Kite foiling – early and super easy lift – This wing is fast and tons of fun to kite with
  • Towing – Ideal for bigger and faster waves

700 Recommended for:

  • WING Foiling for intermediate + level. Stronger wind conditions – FAST Riding
  • Prone / Surf – Intermediate + level. Medium + waves, FAST riding and turning
  • Kite – smooth fast speed riding. Most levels.

830 Recommended for:

  • WING Foiling for intermediate and advanced levels. Medium + wind conditions. Great jumper. Most of our freestyle riders are on the HPS 830 wing on higher winds. The HPS 830 turns on a dime, is very stable when dropping on proper waves with the wing, and feels intuitive and easy while performing at the highest levels of speed.
  • SUP / Surf – You need skill and power to ride the 830 on the surf – but it’s explosive
  • Wake foiling – It’s a smaller wing, so it takes skill to wake on it
  • Pump Foiling – While the HPS pumps and glides beautifully with a handwing, it’s not a wing to dock start or flat water pumping
  • Kite foiling – early and super easy lift – This wing is fast and tons of fun to kite with
  • Towing Foiling – fun for head high or smaller waves

880 Recommended for:

  • WING Foiling for all levels and medium + wind conditions. Great jumper.
  • SUP / Surf – You need skill and power to ride the 880 on the surf – but it’s explosive
  • Wake foiling – It’s a smaller wing, so it takes skill to wake on it
  • Pump Foiling – It’s a small wing, but holds its own
  • Kite foiling – early¬†and super easy lift – This wing is fast

Hover Wing Foil Board Size

Below is a rough guide to help determine Hover Wing Foil board size based on rider weight and skill level. A “beginner” rider is considered as someone with no previous board sport experience.

Keep in mind that additional factors, such as wind conditions, foil, and kite wing size will play an important role in the selection of the right board size.

As a rule of thumb, we recommend erring on the side of a more buoyant board with a volume that matches rider weight (for example, an 80kg rider will need at least an 80L board or larger). Riding a “sinker” will work in locations with steady, strong winds, while floatier boards prove to be a safer choice as they allow the rider to get back to shore even if the wind drops under a foilable limit.
